Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimen perennial, H, 2n= 16,32,(36?) diploid, tetraploid xeric steppe species Pontic-Pannonian-west Balkan Festucion valesiacae (Transylvania, Moldavia), Pimpinello-Thymion zygioidis (?)(Dobrudja, southern Moldavia), Stipo pulcherrimae - Festucetalia pallentis (Iron Gates area), Artemisio-Kochion R34 habitats     A very rare but typical extremely xeric steppe species which usually grows in subdesert like grasslands with Agropyron cristatum ssp. pectinatum.
